Our Year 10 STEM team came out top in a science, maths and technology challenge held at Blackpool Sixth Form College!
The challenge, part of the Blackpool Sixth Form College’s Year 10 STEM days, involved working through a series of practical tasks linked to a range of different subject areas such as engineering, electronics, IT, biology, maths and chemistry. Over 650 students from seven local high schools battled it out during the events held at the end of last term, gaining points for each challenge successfully negotiated. Teamwork was an important aspect of the challenges and it was vital that the teams of four worked closely and effectively to complete the tasks against the clock.
Our winning team consisted of Daniella Makinson, Jamie Mallinson, Carenza McDonald and Connor Phelps, who received the overall winners’ trophy in an assembly just over 2 weeks ago. The students thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and relished the challenge.
Daniella commented, “I had a great day. There were lots of interesting activities. My favourite activity was the robot toothbrush activity, it was so much fun. All the staff were also really nice and helpful.”
Teammate Carenza added, “I had a great day and worked with people that I wouldn’t usually work with which was lots of fun.”
We would like to congratulate our team on such a fantastic acheivement.
