I am immensely proud and privileged to lead our all through Unity Academy and to work with our enthusiastic students, ambitious staff, supportive parents and committed governors. I hope that you will enjoy looking at our website and seeing a flavour of the many exciting learning opportunities we offer for our young people.
We are very fortunate to have excellent learning facilities for all our students. Having been completely transformed since 2014, we now offer bright, modern and engaging facilities for all our students from the age of 2 to 16. Our motto is that “In Unity, we succeed” and this encompasses our desire to achieve success in all aspects of school life. At Unity we strive to define, desire, demand and deliver success for all our students. As such, we have high expectations and work tirelessly to ensure the best possible outcomes for our young people.
Unity Academy is also about much more than this alone; we provide exciting learning opportunities for all our students both inside and outside the classroom, with a commitment to enriching our student’s lives with as many varied and exciting opportunities as possible. We offer a rich extra-curricular programme and a full entitlement curriculum with opportunities to engage in sport, music and drama amongst many other areas. Our entitlement curriculum has a range of activities which we offer children the opportunity to complete during their time at Unity including learning to cook and ride on donkeys! Our school has grown in recent years and we now have over 1000 students. Despite this size we are able to get to know our young people very well, focussing on their individual needs and working in partnership with parents and carers.
We are sponsored by the Fylde Coast Academy Trust (FCAT) and have been since 2013. With the support of FCAT we have already rapidly improved outcomes for young people aswell as developing a curriculum that is broad, balanced and most importantly meets the needs of our children. Ofsted recognised the significant improvements we had made when we were judged to be good in all areas in October 2017. Since then, we have not rested and continued to improve the academy and look for ways to improve the life chances of our young people, including our Forest School provision and Unity Academy Scout Group.
We are incredibly proud of the progress the academy has made over the last few years. It really is an honour to lead such a vibrant and dynamic school community as we continue to work together to strive for greater success because “In Unity, we succeed.”
