At Unity Academy, we appoint ambassadors at the start of Year 6 to undertake various roles and responsibilities around school. This provides opportunities for children to act as positive role models for the other children within our school.
All children are invited to apply in writing to become a ambassador at the beginning of Year 6 and their application letter needs to include:
• Why they want the role
• The personal qualities they possess which enable them to fulfil the role and how they will demonstrate these skills and qualities
• What they think they can offer to Unity as an ambassador
• What would they plan to do to encourage more students in school to behave responsibly
As a school we are very keen to recognise the hard work and positive behaviour of our children and becoming an ambassador is a perfect opportunity to recognise and celebrate these qualities. Successful candidates were presented with their tie at a special assembly this morning after which they must start their job in earnest.
The ambassadors at the Unity Academy must lead by example at all times in their behaviour, the respect they show to others and their school uniform. An ambassador’s role is varied and to be awarded a school tie is considered to be a real privilege.
As part of our education, we believe that children need to experience duties and responsibilities that come with being a member of a community in order to help them prepare to play an active role as citizens.
The position not only allows the Year Six pupils to lead by example and demonstrate their responsibility, it also enables the younger children to learn from a good example.
