In Unity primary school, we aim to encourage a thirst for language learning through a range of speaking, listening and vocabulary activities in French lessons that are engaging and challenging whilst remaining achievable for our younger Unity students. This will prepare our students for the rigour of language learning in secondary school, whilst still making it accessible to all in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.

In Unity secondary school, we aim to ensure that all students understand the value of learning a foreign language and develop the skills and confidence to understand spoken and written French and to write and speak French for real purpose. We ensure that our students gain an understanding of the culture of France and the wider French speaking world, whilst giving them a more profound understanding of their own language and culture.  We aim to demonstrate the links between our own native language and French and how this will enable us to succeed as learners of other foreign languages in the future. In this way, we hope to prepare students to become global citizens and to thrive in a competitive employment market.  We are able to give first hand experience of another language and culture via trips and authentic classroom experience.
