We are excited to announce FCAT has secured a fantastic partnership with Blackpool and the Fylde College and Myerscough College to enrich our curriculum offers at KS4. Unity students can now choose 1 option to be studied at either of these institutions. Level 1 and Level 2 pathways are both available. To be on a level 2 pathway the pupil will ideally be on track for a grade 4 in Maths and English. The partnership and experience will support a positive transition into post 16 courses, ensuring employability prospects are maximised.
At Unity Academy, we believe in providing our students with a well-rounded, broad and balanced curriculum which focuses on academic excellence and also nurtures students’ practical skills and interests. The Compass Curriculum aims to empower students by offering a diverse range of learning experiences, including vocational education approaches, designed to equip students with essential skills for their future endeavours.
Year 10 students have the opportunity to attend Blackpool and Fylde College or Myerscough College and immerse themselves in their chosen vocational subject area, for example, Automotive Level 1 Motorsports, Level 2 Hair and Beauty, Level 2 Agriculture or one of the many other Level 2 subjects. Students have the opportunity for ‘hands-on’ experience under the guidance of experienced specialist tutors. This learning approach encourages students to gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter and its application and supports informed decisions about future career paths. Additionally, this allows students to have the opportunity to interact with college staff and current students, ask questions, and gain valuable insights into college life.
